I used a 60 grit flap disc on a angle grinder, the one with overlapping surfaces for some cushion. Then finished it off with a 120 grit flap disc. Both aluminum oxide. I kept wetting the blade just to make sure it stayed cool.

I really wasnt happy, I didnt remove enough. So I went back at it again. Same process.

I think im done. With my skill level and available tools, I feel i got lucky with how it turned out. I wanted the area to match the curve of the handle, which didnt happen because I started to worry about blending the surfaces together on the blade. The finishes would be noticeably different. I think this way makes it less noticeable.

I deassisted this knife when I first got it. It flipped ok with a good hard light switch style flip. A little wrist action and it worked perfectly every time. But that wasnt what i was familiar with since I also own a zt 0562. The thumb studs/ blade stops are where it’s at with this knife not speed safe assisted. The blade flicks out effortlessly every time. So I got tired of looking at that flipper tab. I think over all the knife looks better too. Thanks for reading this if you made it to the end.

Looks good. I have been thinking about getting a 0566 and removing the assist. I like the look without the flipper.
