im going to buy a new knife soon, and was looking at kersahws aos and flippers. I want to get either the leek, ram, or zing. Which is better?

The RAM is awesome. It opens as quick as some autos, but the Leek is an awesome "gentleman's" style knife, but the Zing opens crazy fast and uses Kershaws new proprietary steel. We used to have a standard answer in the old Kershaw sub forum. It went a little like this. "Get them all", you are going to any way so thats the best advice.:D If you have to get just one go with the RAM 1st you want be disappointed.

I like the RAM the most. One of the biggest technical advantages to the mechanism is that you can flip it closed with a subtle wrist action. It's just cool, too.

A couple of mine:

Im Drooling Over That Knife I Must Get One! Its So Pretty!

I've heard so many people praise the RAM that I've started looking into it myself. However, I've not been a fan of AO, so the OD-1 seems to be the best choice for myself. The overall shape of the knife is simply more appealing to me.

Twitchy, those are not "stock" RAMs the scales are made by firebert and are excellent. The clip is by Gavin Hawk, who posts under the name Blademaker here on Blade Forums, they are also excellent

The RAM is not an AO. There is no spring or torsion bar anywhere in the knife it is a flipper and IMHO the best production flipper made.

Looks like I'll have to do some reading up on it. Most Kershaw designs don't really do much for me, much the same way that some people are turned off by Spyderco knives. Perhaps it's one of those knives that requires really using it before understanding its design.

either or, whatever floats your boat. i can open many flippers as fast as AOs open, or close enough if thats what youre worried about
