Flipper or Nonflipper

First off I would like to say I'm sorry because I'm probably kicking a dead horse but I have been looking at Hinderers flippers and non. I do not like flippers usually but most of the Hinderers you see are flipper versions. I know the pros and cons as the flipper stops it from closing on your hand and if you stab something your hand won't slide but can anyone convince me other than those reasons why the flipper is better? Or should I just go with my personal preference in nonflipper? Also does the flipper vs nonflipper resale value differ? Thanks

Your thinking too much, just go with what you like.
The only thing that bothers me about flippers is when doing food prep they can get in the way of the cutting board.
Just do what your gut tells you.
Forget resale, you need to enjoy what you use.
I like a flipper but if possible prefer not to have one. I may even grind the flipper off the 0562 when I get it, if the studs work ok.

Thanks thats good advice I always use my knives so resale probably wouldn't be an issue anyway. If I'm not going to use it then I probably won't own it very long.

If you're getting a Hinderer I'd go with a non flipper. The flipping action isn't the Hinderers strength and there are a ton of knives in or under that price range that have it nailed down.

The ZT Hinderers are better flippers.

X3, Ive handled at least a dozen flipper Hinderers and they were all pretty sad compared to the ZT/H knives. Poor detent on every one of them. Just another reason to go with your gut and get a non-flip H.

I do have both hinderers. There is really no difference in the two. Because of the weak detent, you have to give the knife a little wrist flick for it to flip open. As stated earlier the ZT 560 is a better flipper. The non flippers are harder to come by since the majority of knives being made are flippers. The flipper deploys with the thumb stud rather smoothly. It's no biggie either way. The flipper does offer better slip protection than the non flipper if you're stabbing. I've seen in secondary markets the non flipper go for more money because they are getting scarce.
