Hello everyone, I am new to the hinderer thread and i believe this is my first post, but I enjoy browsing a lot and looking at all the awesome knives you guys have and i really enjoy the flipperless models of the xm-18 3 inch. Which brings me to my question, I am aware that hinderer knives does not make non-flipper models anymore and I am not registered law enforcement, EMT etc to maybe special request one. So i have two options wait around and try to find on without a flipper on the exchange, or buy a 3" xm-18 (either wharncliffe or slicer grind, I havent decided yet) and have the flipper removed? Would this be something I could send to Rick and his people and have them do for a fee? If anyone can offer information I greatly appeciate it. I am inquiring about this now to make up my mind if i should start saving for one now because I do not have the funds to get a xm-18 yet.

But i thank you all for your time and responses if you have any :)

Hi, Mr. Krieg.......(not nearly as funny as "Mr. Rubi".....for obvious reasons.....would you believe I STILL chuckle at that one......) RHK will not remove flippers......
Best bet if that is what you really want....is to poke around on the forums until you find one......
There were no non-flipper Wharnies ever made......but the non-flipper slicers pop up from time to time......non-flipper spantos are pretty rare.....
And just a word of warning.......XM modification threads do not go over well within the RHK forum......
I think you have make an awesome decision to go after an XM......they are incredible knives.......the 3" XM are my favorites.......and absolutely awesome to carry and use !!!!
Welcome to the RHK forum !!!!!

I have actually been seeing the non flipper models popping up quite often on the exchange. Go look back some pages you may find one that didnt sell.

Just curious what you don't like about the flipper? I don't flip my Hinderers, but I sure do like the finger guard that it allows when my knife is open.

What bothers me is that I think, aesthetically it is ugly and that it hits my thumb when closing the blade, nothing big just a little annoying to me, but I appreciate all the info from everyone else

Yeah, unless you want a knife that you'll be stuck with or practically give it away, altering any knife will not only void the warranty but it will also make it difficult to move. The flipper is like a stray dog, it will grow on you. My first two were non flippers, didn't really care for the flipper at first, now I've got three flippers with one non flipper.
You'll get accustomed to it.

I saw one or two floating around for sale slicers not spanto.its youre knife you can do whatever you want to it if you like it.its not going to be in anyones pocket but youres.if you arent going to use it and flip then dont mod anything.you will void the warranty but you will no in the first week of carrying it if you will ever need the warranty or not.that doesnt mean he wont fix you will have to pay.you shouldn have a problem finding a non flipper though.

Actually, it does:

"Pimped Knives" User Modified or Altered

We are going to continue to stress that we will not work on pimped knives or altered knives, period. This includes refurb or warranty work. If your knife is left in stock condition, we will have your back, if you chose to modify it in anyway, please remember you are doing it at your own risk.

Maybe you should avoid speaking for Rick Hinderer Knives making false claims and consult the stickies instead.

Also from the Stickies.....

I generally just Lock threads that start off like this one, they have a tendency to drift and the information becomes inaccurate.

you no what rda stands for right?all you had to say is that im wrong.but you are rda.you do what you want mr krieg.dont let these as$hats bully you and make you a follower.its youre knife do as you wish.I dont talk for rick .most normal companies take money to fix there knives no mattet what.you probably dont even use youre knives thete to pretty.

This one is done. Funny, I just spent the better part of an hour going back over 73 pages of threads looking for trends and common themes.

This fell into one of those "repetitive patterns".

Note: endgamer, take notice of the Red cards. Your tone and attitude aren't welcome.
