Flipper

It would be interesting to see a flipper come from Cold Steel. What lock did you have in mind? I don't see how a flipper could work with the Triad lock.

It wouldn't work with the tri-ad lock at all, but maybe Cold Steel needs to start looking into some new locking mechanisms. I love the tri-ad lock, I don't have a lot of the "it hurts my thumb" bullcrap that most people tote, but that's me. Their version of a liner lock on the ti-lite is super strong, obviously not tri-ad strong, but it's strong. Ti-lite is the closest thing to a flipper they've made, in fact the back quill/spine can be used like a flipper. Not as easy or convenient, but it works.

CS makes some great folders. Lots of variation. I'm not sure they "need" a flipper - that market is pretty crowded. I guess my bias is showing too - flippers are my least favorite opening mechanism.

License the scorpion lock from Andrew Demko and bam. A flipper is finally possible

A flipper would work with a lockback—it just needs to have a slot for the flipper tab to pass through.

However, this has already been done by another knife company Klecker knives.

I have to agree with the market getting overcrowded with flippers. It seems there is a lot of titanium framelocks being made now by both custom and production makers.

Cold Steel still has the leaf-spring lock option. I would like to see them bring back the NightForce with a flipper and better blade steel than the original.

+1 on this, although i'm not sure i prefer scorpion lock over the triad lock... IMO they should consider intermediate mechanism like this:

Yup saw this before on the thread about the scorpion lock. This looks much better, instead of the knife being an "exposed skeleton". Im quite sure this could work if the spring isn't too strong.

oh no! No flippers please. I hate flippers. Because they are not safe and can open accidentally in a pocket.

Flippers are nice if you like to play with your knife. I don t think that s the purpose for Cold Steel.
You ve have plenty of ZT s for that.

I have an AD15 and I like the Scorpion lock as is. The reason being, I find myself disengaging the lock much further down than where the second picture terminates the Ti portion. It is a great lock, and I imagine it is nearly as strong as the Triad, and at least for me, easier to actuate.
