i never really saw these before, how do they work? i assume there is some flipping, but there hasto be more to it, it it would open in the pocket, and ive seen them w/o thumb studs, do you have to push on the back of the blade? there is no way you flip shut a frame lock, you would cut your self lol. i ask because i am wanting a korth palace and stingers, and the stingers have no stud... sorry if this makes me seem a little slow, but i have no clue

There is a video of the flipper floating around here some place.............anyone got the link? Z

perfect! thanks, that answered all my questions. it seems like it may be mistaken for an auto..........but its not so it dosent matter, man an ikbs flipper must be pretty sweet. looks like i know what type of knife im getting next

I find the comparitively slow opening of larger knives like the Cold Steel Voyager and other knives to be their only drawbacks. I have a CRKT M21-14 I'm very happy with because it opens quickly and is a solid knife. It rides a bit high, but that's another problem.

Flippers are particularly good for cutting dolphins open.

I thought it was an auto at first. Is it just an assisted opening that you have to push on that ring on the back? I'm a bit confused on what exactly it is.

no its like a little lever, you push down and it forces the blade out if i am correct altho i have seen assisted ones. but there would be no wrist action if it was assisted

My Kershaw Chive has a "little lever" on the back of it, but I can't do anything close to that. I'm guessing it's completely different, I just don't see how so...

Look on the CRKT M16. You sweep your finger from infront of the finger towards the back in a quick motion and the blade's intertia will snap it locked

I can open my crkt m16(flipper only) almost as fast as my camilus heat(assisted opening flipper)

I prefer the M16 over the Heat. I've had them open up when you drop em. The studs on the M16 were not meant to be used. They're only there to act as blade stops

if its one of these it should be spring assisted, if you use the lever...

Mine is definitely NOT spring assisted, I'm guessing the spring was missing from it when I found it. Anyone know if there is any way I can get a replacement spring, and how to put it back in?

Even if I don't have papers or the box or anything? I found this knife by some construction area while I was running last year. It's in great condition, except the spring, and the clip is bent outwards.
