Flipping Axis lock

I know it's been discussed before as I just searched last night, but now when I search I am greeted with a blank white page. I'm getting the hang of flipping my 710 open and closed, but sometimes when I close it I don't time it right and the blade kind of bounces back open. I'm just wondering if that hurts the knife in any way because it doesn't feel too good when I do it, like it's unnatural. Same with opening.

Right now I have a blister from doing it so I'll have to hold off anyway. I know someone by the name of "Wade" here said he flips his all the time for years and it's the same as the day he got it, but judging by his videos he is leagues better than I am right now.

In a mechanical sense, it does fatigue the springs, blade, stop pin, liners, and bar, but it won't hurt the knife in any noticeable way. It'll still have a strong and reliable lock and the blade will still be however sharp it was before flicking it open and shut. As you noticed, it's just a timing thing and your developing callous will let you get more practice when the swelling goes down.

It just takes a little practice. My thumb would get sore at first too, but it toughens up pretty quick with regular pratice. Just make sure you keep those fingers clear of the closing blade. You don't ever want to get to comfortable and stop paying attention to what you're doing, and don't drink and flip. :)

I had a 940 axis lock for a while and found that I could wrist flick it and get it open. I never bothered with the button.

Yep, my fingers are never near it. I'm more worried about the knife getting damaged than myself, how's that for messed up priorities :D

No problems so far with my Mini-Rukus; I practice with both hands... which would account for the nice almost undistinguishable scar on my left index finger (off hand).
