I've noticed recently that my cqc 7 has started getting very small rust spots on the blade near and around the pivot area. I live in Oregon so sometimes mornings are foggy and misty. Recently I've been taking it jogging with me clipped to my left chest strap on my high Sierra mini backpack I carry my wallet phone and water in. So I've used a scotch Brite sponge to remove the specs for now but am wondering which of the aforementioned rust removers and inhibitors people use with the best results on emerson knives. Also was wondering if anyone could give a good comparison of them or maybe drawbacks of some comparatively.

Thanks,
-Nick

IMHO Froglube has the ability to penetrate the molucular structure of metal, and is besides a great lubricant, it has some anti rust properties.

If your just talking atmosphere moisture, giving the blade a wipe down with some mineral oil should suffice.

I treat all of my knives with Break Free CLP. Spray it on, leave it overnight then wipe dry. Any rust will wipe right off.
I started doing this after a friend recommended I give it a try and I have not had problems since.

Nick- My exercise knife is a Spyderco Salt. NO rust and they're lighter in weight.
EDC the Emerson(s).

Whenever I get spots of rust on Emersons (I sweat a lot in the summer at work) I almost always rub the rust spot with an eraser and then wipe down with Tuf-Glide. The eraser does a damn good job removing surface rust.

I've wanted a blacked out Pacific salt for a while now and I think after I sell my mini samaritan I'll spring for that.

Never tried an eraser, usually a scotchbrite sponge is my go-to (even though usually rust isn't an issue for me). If it happens again I'll try the eraser trick! I should be getting some eezox or another equally good rust inhibitor in the next week or so.

I use frog lube, there are probably better things for pure rust but I like frog lube because it's food safe.
