hey guys is it ok to use flitz on my new HI khukri?

just wondering

also... beneath the goatskin (dunno if thats the correct sheath material) is there a wood core?

thanks alot guys, this is my first khuk so i guess im a khuk noob here

cheers

lol i know that im not supposed to use the flitz on the scabbard.

i was wanting to polish with the flitz because flitz provides a protective coating as well as polishing.

the sheath part was just a question because i wanted to do the m4040 project and remove the water buffalo hide and replace it with a nylon or cordura covering...

thats all

thanks for the quick responses guys

cheers

Instead of tearing it apart, contact Terry Cisco. He makes some *awesome* covers for them!

Flitz ought to be fine if you're not going to use it for food preparation.

yup no food prep just plain ol choppin

thank you for the recommendation nasty

cheers

If there was an H.I. forumite gathering/hog roast, you just know khukuris would be used for the food preps.

Flitz is very good, but it is very slightly abrasive IIRC.

Not recommended for stuff like abalone, MOP, etc which are very soft (relatively speaking).

Flitz will work fine, but trying to keep a working khukri shinny and bright is an excercise in futility. I think they look better with a gray patina. Do a search for 'patina,' there are some good threads about various ways to achieve a good look - as well as a protective surface using houshold and kitchen items.
Taking a scabard apart is not the simple job it appears to be.
