Those are some nice looking knives, but I must say, you have a most unusual way of advertising them.

Thanks Buddy, I really appreciate it. I am passionate about knives and blessed in the sense that All of my work (as in 100 percent) is presold before being posted on an internet forum. I try to take the best photos I can and I want to share my work with the World but I simply don't post any knives on Bladeforums that are not already sold and I don't take orders .This is the New Money Kitchen Series and I thank you for viewing!

The reflection on that shiny bottom one makes the grind look sweet.

Why do you call it the "kitchen combat" series?

Thanks for the question regarding the origin and naming of the Kitchen Combat Series aka New Money Kitchen Series.

Chef Christopher Maher flew in from Taos last week and during his visit to SnodyKnives Compound he asked the same question.

Chef Chris already uses the SnodyKnives New Money Santoku but I am designing a specialty line with his input that will be featured on his weekly program.

More specifically Chef Chris wanted to know why they were "Kitchen Combat" as opposed to "Combat Kitchen"

I like to stay in my area of expertise (stay in my lane) regarding knife designs and I am really not familiar with "Combat Kitchen" I am however extremely familiar with "Kitchen Combat".

I live in the hood, we got gangsters walking up and down the street with their pants hanging down and drawers showing.

If I am in the kitchen preparing a zesty cilantro mole based salsa when my son announces that some fool is trying to steal my rims (jack my blades) I may not have the time or inclination to put down my New Money Santoku, wash my hands, grab my glock (four pounder) and run outside. Thats just one example of the need for a Kitchen Combat Multi Purpose New Money Santoku.

We have large fiestas at my house and my mother in law often helps me cook for the guests. She is from Vera Cruz, she is younger than I am and she can get pretty sassy, not sassy enough for Kitchen Combat but every now and then I may have to waive the knife in her direction just to keep her in line and let her know who the real boss is. When my wifes uncle with the gold teeth gets drunk anything can happen. If he comes staggering in the kitchen, spilling tequila on the floor while I am chopping serranos for my specialty Shrimp and Cream Cheese Poblanos there is no need to worry because I have a Kitchen Combat Knife already in my hand.

The client who purchased this set of New Money Santokus just completed a $50,000 kitchen upgrade and expressed interest in owning a series of custom made, world class kitchen knives that exhibited more robust attributes, knives that have some weight to them, thicker stock and deeper grinds.

Kind of like the knives Bill the Butcher used in Gangs of New York he expalined.

When I informed him that the knives he longed for already existed and that he need search no more he was truly elated.

He had no idea that a Kitchen Combat Series actually existed.

He told me that if he was preparing blowfish sushi and disturbed by burgulars he wanted a kitchen knife that would allow him to deal with the intruder in a manner which would allow him to quickly return to his dinner guests without ruining the ambiance of the evening.

Kind of like having a fire extinguisher in the Kitchen.

Nobody wants a fire.

Same with the Kitchen Combat Series.

Nobody wants a family fiesta to turn into combat but if it does at least you can extinguish the problem.

Mike- :) I think the advertising notion hits on something that's worth mentioning.

I know your stuff goes out the window like crazy and you don't NEED this place for advertising, but I can see where some of these guys might think that's what you're doing.

I think what would negate all that is if you could post more on your thoughts regarding knifemaking/customs in general.

I KNOW you are a VERY smart guy and the knife thing is just something you do for fun, and with your career and background, I think you could add a whole lot to the discussions here.

I guess what I mean to say, is that I know you have a lot to offer and your participation in other threads would be greatly appreciated.

Love your knives... always have! Crisp and clean and slick!!! :D

Thank you very much for taking the time to post that!

I truly appreciate it!!

Your 100% right regarding the perception of the board and I agree that I do need to make an effort to contribute to ongoing discussions.

Thats something I am going to try to do this year.

The difficulty arises when discussions become political or heated in nature and we as knifemakers offer opinions that alienate a portion of our potential client base.

Take Care!!!

Glad you took that as I meant it Mike... I was worried it might come off as me like shaking my finger at you or something stupid like that.

I remember some years back a heated discussion with Harley and you kind of went away after that.

I'm glad to see you back and glad to see such great photos of your work!!!

Thanks Mike! :)

Hey Friend, thanks for your interest in my work.

The most realistic place to currently purchase a SnodyKnife is going to be the aftermarket.

I would google "Snody Knife", there are wonderful pieces out there.

Please dont hesitate to to contact me if you have other questions or would like to be placed on my SnodyKnives mailing list.

Thanks!!

Let me clear something up Mr. Snody. I was by no means meaning to insult you by saying you have an interesting way of advertising.
In fact, after reading your combat kitchen post, my boss came into my office because I was laughing so hard!
Great stuff!!

Anyway, I read my own post and realized it could have been written a little better on my part.

Your knives are incredible looking, and I hope to be able to find one soon. I really need a good kitchen knife or two, but I just haven't learned enough about them yet to make my own.

Take care,

Dave
