floppy Commander blade

So I finally got my Commander, and of course was impressed by it. I was a bit dismayed though when I took the screw out of the pivot joint to oil it. As I moved the blade back and forth, I noticed a scraping sound, and when I investigated, I saw that the blade was loose, as well as that side of the handle. I might not have thought much about this, except for the fact that this does not happen with my CQC-7. When I remove the pivot joint screw to oil the 7, it looks like the screw is just there for decoration...the blade is as solid as when fully assembled. Is this normal, or do I have a defective product?

Thanks

Your fine. When reassembling the pivot, find the "sweet spot". The place that is snug enough that there is no blade play and the detents hold the knife closed, yet the opening is smooth. You'll have no problem, any five year old can do it.

You also may want to add a drop of Loctite to the threads of the pivot head to keep it in the "sweet spot". Don't get it on the blade or the exterior of the pivot bolt, just the threads. This will keep the pivot from coming loose under hard (wave) use.
