Florida carry laws??

i have read thru some (if not all) of the FL carry laws, but i have yet to see a size limit on the blades of manual folding knives or fixed blade knives.

the laws seem to concentrate a lot on the use of "ordinary pocket knives" and "auto pocket knives"

i know what constitutes an "auto pocket knife" but what is an "ordinary pocket knife" considered in FL? anyone know?

and if so, what can the blade length be on that "ordinary pocket knife?"

i just purchased a large sebenza and i want that for EDC. will this be an issue in the great state of FL?

thanks,

ordinary pocket knife must have a 3 inch or less blade and be closed. This is the only thing you may carry concealed.

Anything else, you are free to carry, but cannot conceal it as a weapon.

btw i'm originally from tallahassee so i'm not just talking out my ass.

It's a little more complicated than that. There is no regulation anywhere that states what a "common pocketknife" is, or length thereof. 4" is the outside limit, but less than that can cause problems, or not.

Dress conservatively, don't stir up any crap, and be nice to officers, and you're less likely to have a problem.

Originally from Pensacola, where I carried an AFCK for many years with no problems.

thanks guys. it's always great to have some native boys chime in :)

i have some really close friends and relatives that are LEO and i will ask them as well, just wanted to run it by the pros here first. i will probably just whip out the sebenza and see what they think first.

thanks again,

Get a CCW and carry what you please. The only no-no's that I can see are knives that shoot the blade and full auto weapons. I carry a large Sebbie and a Busse both concealed along with my CCW ID. The man is right, don't start no $hit and there won't be no $hit.

There is no definition of a "common pocket knife" in Florida. Blade size will not be the sole determining factor. A Spyderco Cricket with serrations doesn't look anything like Grandpa's pocket knife.

It's easy enough to get a carry permit in Florida, and with autos legal here, why not get the CCW?

thanks to all.

i've got all the papers for the CCW already, just never did fill them out and sent them in. was wondering if i should have one just in case... but now my ?? has been answered.

thanks,
