Local Orlando denizen here who's spent plenty of time in Daytona Beach.
Bring whatever you want. As long as you're smart with your carry, you're not going to be bothered with anything. I have an Oakley AP vest that I have a Benchmade Nimravus strapped to the back of, that I wear while hiking/backpacking/camping/screwing-around-in-the-backwoods/whatever, and I'll walk through most local stores with it on with no recourse. If that isn't asking for trouble, I don't know what is. Now given, I usually look like I've been in the woods at the time, so that might help, but my point is that knives are pretty easy to carry here. I carry an SMF to work every day. Some number of years ago, my friend did something dumb while driving downtown at night, and we were pulled over. I had an auto MOD Mark I on me (not a subtle knife), and the cops spent a minute deliberating, and because I explained that it was a tool for day to day life, and not for self defense, they gave it back to me. When I go out for a real jaunt in the woods I carry a Strider MTL-SS and nobody gives me a hard time, even when going into gas stations and such. Point being, you're pretty darn safe here.
Come on down! Oil hasn't swamped the east coast yet!
