Florida Statutes 790.225 talks about ballistic knives but no mention of autos, switchblades or blade lengths.

Two officers told me they're illegal but couldn't find it in their copy of the statutes.

It would be comforting to carry a copy of the statute and any case law that would indicate it's legal to carry an auto in Florida. Otherwise, I should leave it at home, I suppose.

From what I can decipher of Florida's laws, autos and balisongs are legal to openly carry, but not for concealed carry. They are legal by virtue of the fact that the laws don't mention them as illegal. An auto or balisong would likely be considered a weapon rather than a pocket knife. I might be wrong.

In Florida, the concealed firearm licence also covers "weapons", so if you have one, you're in the clear to concealed carry just about anything other than machine guns.

Florida's laws make no mention of blade length, but aparently there's some case law that has classified pocket knives of certain lengths as "weapons".
