From my understanding a minor is only allowed to have a folding blade under 4" in Florida. Is this true? I wanted a karambit and I don't know if it is legal to have a large fixed blade and having it concealed. Also do you think that open carry for a minor is legal and/or safe?

I have read some of the law regarding knives but as you probably know they are very vague and confusing.

Florida law is confusing it states it must be a common pocket knife.fixed blades can be carried openly if you are over 18.but this is one state you sure do not want to get caught up with breaking the law with a knife.look in Florida 790 Statutes.it's basically what is your intent of carrying the knife.but don't even consider carrying anything if you're not 18..I don't think carrying a fixed blade, karambit in the pocket is legal regardless.how would you possibly explain that to the police.

Legal or not, open carry is bound to lead to unwanted attention of many types, unless in an unquestionably appropriate scenario (like camping for example).

I agree John

I agree it depends on what you are doing. It really depends on attitude. and how you treat the officer who might question you.But honesty is the best policy. Cant say ive ever had trouble with police over a knife. Just respect them and do what they say. Say you was fishing obviously you would have knife. But take a stroll down town with a large fixed blade and things go south quickly. Use common sense And always respect the law. Wont be no trouble that way.
