Im in the prosses of geting my CCW in Florida. Acording to the statute 790.06

790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--

(1) The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is authorized to issue licenses to carry concealed weapons or concealed firearms to persons qualified as provided in this section. Each such license must bear a color photograph of the licensee. For the purposes of this section, concealed weapons or concealed firearms are defined as a handgun, electronic weapon or device, tear gas gun, knife, or billie.

So my question is What is concidered a "billie"? And what is not?

For example: can I carry a Kuboton without a CCW? And is a slaper/blackjack concidered a "billie"?

Not from Florida, so I can't give you a reliable answer. I do want to point out, however, that the definitions contained in Statute 790.001 here makes clear that a blackjack fits within the definition of a slungshot, as opposed to a billie. Under California case law a billie is any type of club (e.g. nightstick or telescoping baton), or any improvised weapon intended to be used as a club (e.g. baseball bat, table leg, broken pool cue, etc.)

I am from Florida and can appreciate the frustration and confusion over this issue. I have a KOGA Cold Steel Pocket Stick. When I carry it, I slide it in a small
slash pocket of my carpenter style shorts. About 40% or so of the stick is very visable, but not in a treating manner. Therefore it is not a concealed weapon.
To my thinking this is O.K., but it would depend where I was if stopped and questioned about it. If I was going for a late night walk in my neighborhood where some folks leave there large dogs out for the night I figure I am o.K. if stopped. If I were in a bar or nightclub then I could be percevied as looking for trouble. The bottom line is the policemans descrettionary powers if you do not have a cw permit. It is stupid that we shoud have to deal with this as really how
much of a threat are we if we carry a simple pocket stick? It is not an UZI or a saber for that matter, so how are we a threat for a simple --last resort-small stick?........ :( ...William
