I will start this post with the obvious...maybe I am a little mentally challenged

but not too much as I own a Fly Sebenza

Anyhow, I called and ordered a tube of the CRK Flourinated Grease a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. Today I went to use it for the first time. It comes in a syringe type dispenser tube. Looking at it, it was obvious that I needed to clip the very end of the point off like a tube of superglue to open it. That done, when I pressed on the plunger, no grease comes out...its full as the tube is transparent and I can see its full of grease. Ok, I think, it must have a bladder down inside it and needs to be punctured by a pin to get it started...so I go searching for a pin. Can't find one...ok, I just want a little bit so I will pull the plunger out and get it that way and leave it sealed up. Plunger doesn't pull out easily. Ok, I'll see if I can twist off the pointed end. When I twist it, it aligns a little hole with the pointed dispenser end and florinated grease squirts out about 10 foot and all over the carpet!

No directions on the syringe or in the bag tell you to twist the pointed end to align it before it will come out. Ok, maybe I am a little slow but it wasn't obvious to me. Just wanted to bring this up so that others wouldn't make the same mistake.

Anne,

Do you think that maybe including some clear directions on how to dispense the grease are a good idea for folks like me?

Maybe a small "Care and Treatment of your Sebenza" insert?

Maybe a video, with slow-motion and extreme close-ups. And a 24-hour toll-free number, with technicians standing by. (chuckle...)

Chief,

I surely hope that you are not slow, because then I would be too!

The same thing happened to me. I figured it out after a while though.

I also lost half my grease to my carpet as well.

I was trying to suck the grease out of the tip and I pulled a little to hard. The plunger came off and so did a lot of my grease. Oh well, there's still more than enough to last me a lifetime.

Where should it be applied? Should you take apart the knife and put it on the washers or can you just squeeze it into the pivot?

Jason

The tolerances are so close on the Reeve folders that you really need to take it apart if you are going to use the fluorinated grease. That's my take on it anyway.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

You will have to take it apart Fenris. That's the downside of the Flourinated Grease is that it will only work on folders that can be disassembled.
