G'day,

The design etched on the CPM S35Vn blade was inspired by the decoration used on Ottoman yatagans.
The guard is brass, the scrimshawed spacer is an ivory substitute and the handle is Fiddleback Blackwood with a mosaic pin.

Hippie... not. But, some hippies are cool.
I like it.
What's that fancy work at the heel?

Looks great.

A compact and user friendly knife by the looks of it.

Positively restrained compared to some of your other (equally beautiful) work - are you getting mellow in your old age (KIDDING!)!:D

Thanks Rolf, it's called a Spanish notch. It doesn't serve any purpose, it's just there to make a transition between the cutting edge and the choil.

Thanks guys,
I've always kept in touch with my soft side. Flowers make a knife look less aggressive, but it's still a sharp and pointy implement.

Some claim the Spanish Notch was for catching the blade of an enemy. Not sure I buy into that - just look at vintage fighting knives and how the notch is shaped and the size of it.

I've read quite a bit about the origin of the Spanish notch but never found anything convincing. Who knows, it may not even have originated in Spain. My personal opinion, but I may very well be wrong, is that they made them simply because it looked good.

Yes, Ill tend to agree with that.

Your guess is as good as mine.
