I used to have a friend from Nepal, Real nice gal, got along with her great, except she loved pulling my leg. She'd sit there over coffee chattering at ten thousand words a minute soundin' like a chimpanzee on meth and l would just sit there with a big dumb a$$ blank look on my face nodding and pretending I understood her. She'd start in "You don't understand a word I'm saying, do you?'

Me: smiling politely nodding dumbly

Her: you are a big dummy...you have no clue do you?

Me: nodding like an imbecile and smiling politely

Her: cracking up in hysterical laughter with my wife (my wife understood her)

Me: politely laughing right along....

In my own defense I was raised in the South where folks talk a bit slower, and I shot many thousands of rounds in my youth when I was too cool to wear ear protection...

Anyhoo....one night after we'd had a couple of drinks she mentioned flying snakes in Nepal, to which I called BS. but then she INSISTED they were real, and lived in areas with dense vegetation?? My buddies and I still called BS, and laughed our fool head off for a half hour, talking about snakes with wings, but she kept insisting they were real, they glided like flying squirrels from tree to tree. I still mostly think my friend was pulling my leg, but...there's that inkling of doubt...

So, tell me....

Are there flying snakes in Nepal??   :p

Could be, not sure if they're in Nepal but I have seen them on the Discovery and Animal Planet channels. :p :D  There's also a flying toad or frog, don't remember which it was.:grumpy:

Members of the genus Chrysopelea (4 or 5 species) glide like "fying squirrels." I know they are in SE Asia, but not sure about Nepal. I'll check and GBTY.

The reptile field list published by Tribhivan University carries C. ornata var. ornata as occuring in Nepal. Got one.

(Besides, drink enough village hooch and flying snakes will be the least of your wories.)

Good God awmighty! They're real!!

man...I reckon ah'd wanna trade in the ole Garden hoe for a nice Ruger Red Label fer killin' snakes in dem areas!

aw...wait a minute...says here they're not venomous....might as well let 'em live to kill other vermin then...

use to track down the miserable SOB who said it was GOOD corn whiskey he sold ya' and demand a refund? and would it be a different one than the one you used to cut the wings off the flying snake who kept scaring the pink elephants into charging you, and thusly forcing you to hide in the bathroom stall where the bear had just finished his business thereby providing an alternative answer to the rhetorical question "does a bear sh!t in the woods?"

Not always my friends....not always....

Here's a REAL picture of one:
