I love my shaman but I also love micarta. Has anyone tried the new green micarta scales for shaman made by flytanium? If so what are your thoughts?

While I can't give an opinion on those as I do not do Flytanium because of the country of origin, I can say my Shaman in M4 and green micarta from Spyderco is great. It feels more "wax sealed" than the PM2 in Micarta.

Red micarta, please, Spyderco..

Yeah. The one gripe I have with the crucarta pm2 is the micarta attracts dirt, food grease, blood and anything else like crazy.

What's the country?

Ah I see..

Was considering Ti scales for my fav Delica untill I read that the weight went from 2,4 oz to 3,6.

A total no-go and they are not cheap either.
Whoa, that's a lot of weight! Heavy Titanium... Made the right choice there imo. Metonboss is a good USA company that does this sort of thing, but it can also be fairly pricy. He does install, too.

I have a PM2 with Metonboss Ti scales that, while I have not weighed them, feels no heavier than a standard PM2. Definitely heavier than my aluminum and Maplewood though, those two are the only ones to significantly beat out the regular weight of a knife.

Part of the weight problem with flytanium is that they are designed so that u have to include the OEM steel liners. They could have saved a lot of weight if they left them out of the design.

Ti is plenty strong, no need for liners.

Mine started pulling the dye out of my blue jeans as soon I put it in my pocket. Motivated me to track down the dlc black smooth G10 PM2.

Soon you will have blue denim micarta. You trend setter
Honestly, I pulled it from the rotation, enjoy the knife and micarta too much to turn it blue. Heck even my tan G10 PM2 pulled some of the dye as well. Theses are old jeans even, it's the darndest thing! I'm mostly carrying a chef these days so no worries!

I ended up putting mink oil on my handle, darkened it up a bit and helps retain moisture, while giving me a better grip

Cool. Thanks!
Comes down to flytanium or rgt. Have done some reading and flytanium seem to be a bit more precise. Not as many options as rgt. Most people actually seem happy with both.

BTW I took your advice and did not mess with the detent hole on my pm2. I did bend the lock bar inward. Not only did this help the detent but it also seemed to improve the lockup

This model is definitely not for anyone looking to keep their scales pristine. Bottom line is they just get plain dirty which makes its use somewhat limited. I don't think I would clean fish with these scales or anything that involves blood or body fluids (hunting fishing etc). I'm a factory foreman so it works well for me. Lots of cardboard and zip ties. My first pm2 and I will say it cuts like a laser and is very tough. The ergos are also great

Flytanium Lucha Scales are US made. I like them however I give the company zero credit because if it were not for importation laws against butterfly knives they would be running to China to have them made for less money.
