I'm looking for some custom scales for my PM2 and Manix and ran across some Flytanium ones. Anyone here have any experience with these scales? Fit and finish? Pics would be awesome!

I don't have any experience with Flytanium scales. However, I've been wanting some of their copper scales for my tenacious lately and was about to make a similar post myself. I've heard they're nice scales, but have never seen or used them myself. Does anybody else on here have some experience with them and any tips/suggestions?

I’ve had a set on a PM2, they were titanium:
1. They make the knife heavier, which is neither here nor there in my opinion, just a fact. The weight did not bother me at all.
2. The workmanship was fine, pretty darn good, actually.
3. I had some up and down blade play on mine that I couldn’t get rid of. The side to side was solved with adjustment, but I had to make it tighter than I otherwise would have liked, and tight pivots don’t usually bug me. For example, I’m not concerned with a PM2 “dropping shut” or not as long as it’s smooth with no play.
4. I liked the smooth finish and how it made the knife go in and out of a pocket easier.
5. I REALLY wish Spyderco would make a titanium frame lock PM2. I’d own several.
So, to summarize, well made, will change the feel, couldn’t put up with the blade play. Just my anecdotal example.

I have several flytanium scales. The fit and finish has been good on all of them and I haven’t had any functional issues with any of them. They do add weight, but I really enjoy the extra heft.

Thanks for the all the feedback! I just placed an order for some CF PM2 scales and all new Ti hardware as well. I'll post up some pics as soon as I get the knife together.

I don't have pictures, but I've got two sets of Flytanium scales. The first set I bought were the titanium ones for a PM2. They fit excellent. My impressions of those were similar to what Warbow said above, but I didn't have any blade play. I normally run my PM2s a little loose to have a better action. That often gives me a little blade play. With Flytanium, I was able to tighten everything up so I had a really good action, but didn't have any blade play. I was very happy with that. The milling, fit, and finish were all excellent. I carry that PM2 pretty often and the titanium has worn very well. There are small scratches/snail trails on the set, but they make the knife look better to me.

I have a carbon fiber set on a Manix 2. The first set I ordered had a considerable gap around the lanyard tube. I emailed them and they responded IMMEDIATELY and made arrangements to get another set to me. The second set fit perfectly and were as well made as the titanium set I had.

They seem like a solid company that stands behind their products. I'm very happy with both sets and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them in the future.

I just took some pictures of the titanium scales I have. I'll upload them because I'm pretty sure there's no "thumbs down for bad pictures" button.:D They aren't the best pictures, but I think they show the fit and finish of the titanium. Actually, I think that first picture is poorly focused, but it gives you an idea.

Separately, I know someone that has another set of Flytanium scales for the PM2 similar to the ones I have, but with a criss cross pattern. Those fit great. The same person has a set of (I think brass) on a Para 2. He said those were much heftier than then titanium, but didn't mind the extra heft and that the fit and finish was really good with those, too.

Here are some pictures of the Manix 2 CF scales I have. I tried different lighting for this. I hope the pictures are clearer. The CF itself is very good quality. Somewhat smoother than the CF on ZTs, but very nice. The milling was of very good quality. If you'd like any specific pictures of either the PM2 or the Manix, please let me know.

That's been my experience. I think you'll love the CF scales you ordered. My order shipped with a cool sticker, too!

I just sold a Lil’ Native with Flytanium scales that were perfect! They fit and looked great.

Just installed the titanium scales and hardware last night on my Manix 2 XL. Used the hardware kit for the PM2, width was one tench of an inch off, barely noticeable. Now waiting for a different ball cage and pocket clip... oh and also, I can now cancel my gym membership this knife is so damn heavy! Lol.
