Just got an ipod. Now we need an fm transmitter so we can use it in the car. Any recommendations?

Just make sure it has a powered usb port so you can charge your ipod as you play. Important for long trips or a recharge while you drive.

Also pick one that supports the full frequency range and includes some preset ability so it's easy to tune to the most commonly used empty frequencies in your area.

I had a griffin that's designed for Ipod, sucks power like crazy, and broke after a couple of months (a lot of people are complain about theirs broken really quick too). Then I bought a belkin tunecast, but the wires are annoying. I just bought a docking station that plugs into cig lighter, it only have 4 frequencies but I have no problem with it. So far it's my favourate, I'll see how long it lasts.

They work well if there are not lots of FM stations in your area. They are nice for long trips. I have the ITRIP and it works well. As mentioned above get a car charger at the same time. I would like to get a hard wired system in my next car.

Monster is by far the best... check it out at Futureshop or find it on-line for cheaper.

I live in a pretty big city, and one or two of those four are free. Of course your mileage may vary.

The best solution thou is get a new head unit with 3.5mm or RCA input, then you are hardwired, and no more hunting for signal free station. They go for pretty cheap now too. It's the step I plan to go eventually.

I bought two and was unhappy with both. Sound quality was bad, and one would drift every few minutes, and you would have to manually retune it like a really bad radio. Got to be a safety hazard!

Spend the extra bucks and get yourself a head unit with an AUX in. You'll save yourself time, money, and your car audio will sound 500% better. Crutchfield has at least one for well under $100.

I tried one and got static on every preset station. Wound up taking it back.

I got the "Griffin 9501-TRIPCBL iTrip Auto FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for iPod" It has a digital tuner for locking in any free station. Once locked into a free station it doesn't drift.

Changing between stations is an easy matter of pushing the up or down arrow until you are on the new free channel. This is handy when traveling between towns.

I have had my for over a year now and haven't had any problems and would buy another one.
