Hello, all. I live in Muncie, IN, and have been unable to locate training in FMA in my area. Information on any other blade-oriented training would be appreciated, also. I can't really afford to travel great distances to train. I have just about come to the conclusion that the only practical way for me to obtain FMA training is from videotapes...hardly ideal, in my opinion. Thanks in advance for any information. :)

I have trained in a variety of FMA and am a certified instructor under W. Hock Hochheim. I live in Warsaw, Indiana which is still a little ways from you but I do sponser seminars up this way from time to time and you are invited to come up and join us for our seminars anytime. I think that they would definately be worth your drive.

In any case- I am sponsoring a Silat seminar on February 23, 2002. The Silat is a little different from the FMA but the instructor covers some interesting stick and knife material from Indonesia. Then on May 18-19 of 2002 I am sponsoring a seminar with W. Hock Hochheim. Hock is cross certified in several FMA's but what he teaches is a steamlined system using sticks, knives, and empty-hands. The seminar will be the first of it's kind in the state.

Check out Hock's website- http://www.hockscqc.com or e-mail me for more information.

Greetings WaveMan,
their is a really good FMA instructor in Fort Wayne, whom I used to study with when I had more disposable income. His name is Al Mclucky, let me know if you want his phone numer #.

I also have a friend in Rochester, who studied under Al. That might also be availble for training. His name is Mark Johnson, we are going in together to buy Matt Thornton's Straight Blast Gym's video's. Al consider's them to be cutting edge in Jeet Kune Do.

Troy,
thanks for the info, but I don't think I'd be able to make it to Fort Wayne regularly...it looks like it's about the same distance from me as it is from you. Same for Rochester. Don't get me wrong, it would certainly be worth it to make the drive, but I just can't afford it and the wear and tear on my truck...it's got to last me 'til I graduate...haha. Bein' poor sucks.... If you would, e-mail me his phone #. If he has periodic seminars or something similar, I'd be able to make it; just not several times a week. Thanks...

Al is good guy and an excellent instructor but he is a tad bit on the costly side at $40.00 + per hour. You can attend 5 hours of training with Hock for that price. I almost became a student of Al's but couldn't afford the cost. However, if people have the money to spare I would recommend him as well.
