I was wondering if there are any forum members living in the the Fort Worth area who might be able to give me some info. Since moving to Fort Worth, I've had no luck finding any FMA instructors or groups. I've been training solo for a while but the need to sit in on a class or have a partner is growing. Anybody out there who could point me in a direction or is interested in some stick time and a beer, email me.:D

Thanks

If you can travel to Irving there is a group than train FMA on Thur. and Sat. at Irving Fitness. 8:30pm on Thur. an 1pm on Sat. contact Jon Rister at 972-768-2721.

JMJ, thanks for the info. I live in west Fort Worth and Irving is only a 30-40 min drive away:) . Unfortunately, the days and times conflict with my current schedule:( . I might be able to make it out for a visit depending on how long the group trains. I will definitely contact Mr. Lister this week. Perhaps he might know of other possibilties I could look into.

BTW, Do you train with this group? If so, what are the gatherings like? I'm non-traditional and unorthodox practitioner which sometimes doesn't sit well with purists. All the protocol and politics in FMA can be exhausting.

Hey,

Warrior's Way Martial Arts Academy in Wichita Falls, TX, is approximately 120 miles away from you.

http://www.warriorswaytx.com/

Excursions to that location might be possible in spite of the drive. Special events should be of interest to you given the quality of the participants. I would call or e-mail Sifu Harley Elmore and see what you and he can put together.

Sincerely,
Tommy

I've visited thier website several times and really considering driving up for a weekend to check it out. I'd like to attend one of thier Sayoc Kali seminars this year to experience their concepts and discipline. I really took for granted all the FMA resources I had available back in CA. Being out here in TX reminds me of how precious those resources are. Thanks for the reminder.

You can check out the Pekti tirsia guys in the Dallas area by checking the www.bladefighting.com.. One of Tuhon Gaje's long time students is currently living in that area and Rudy Salazar and his crew are also affiliated with the PTK group with direct lineage to Tuhon Gaje

Arnisador,

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of this PTK group. My family is also from Panay like the Tortals. I'll need to get in touch with them and check out one of thier classes. Dallas is a good 45 min. away but it seems I have little choice but to take the trip. I've come across some other FMA resources all located in Dallas. I guess Fort Worth doesn't rank for FMA instructors to come and enlighten. Just my luck or Murphy's Law!?

Have you ever heard of Punong Guro Omikel Del Rosario of Kalis Kalis? You never replied back to a post regarding his teaching of ancient Taglog writings and philosphy.

CPK,

Sorry about that. :o Don't know where my mind was that week!

I have heard of PG Del Rosario. Until you mentioned it, I was never aware he was an educator nor of his work with Baybayin. I must tell you that I am a member (about a month now) of his FMA yahoo group and feel his postings and responses to be insightful and provocative and appreciate his perspective. Those of you with interest can take a look here
Kalis Kalis for something different than most FMA sites.
