I've been looking around on my own and have yet to find any FMA schools anywhere in the southeast. Am I overlooking them or are there just none in my region ? ? ?

I'm in montgomery, alabama I was looking for something I can go to for a day or two in driving distance every month and practice on my own . . .

I am an apprentice instructor in Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do with training in Filipino Martial Arts and am located in Montgomery. I don't have a school but I do have a decent sized backyard. If you would like more information please email me at MontgomeryJKD@gmail.com.

I should tell you there is an Modern Arnis school in Montgomery. I believe the instructor's name is Stanley Tippins, who is an instructor under Ray Dionaldo (I think). His school is located on the west side of I-65 near the Air Force Base. There is a webpage but I do not know the address. I have not met the instructor.

Thank you for the help, I just switched jobs so as soon as I get a idea of how my schedule is going to be I'll be in touch, I'll also check out the Arnis school when I get time. . .

MontgomeryJKD,

Haven't forgotten just working a really irregular schedule right now as soon as I get a more fixed schedule I'll be in touch. I actually found the Arnis school's website but it's incomplete and I couldn't get a address or other contact info.

I believe it's on the south side of Bell Street, west of I-65. If you're going west on Bell from the interstate I don't think it's more than a few blocks down, but it's been several months since I was there. They had a sign up in front, but I can't remember what the name was. It had some Kali sticks on it so it should be hard to miss.

I have a somewhat flexible schedule since I don't have a "class". I work the usual 8-5 so late afternoons/evenings are best. Feel free to email me.

A previous poster recommended Chris at Combatives Unlimited in Birmingham. I've trained with him and some of his students and recommend him. Chris certainly has more knife-oriented training than I do, if that is what you are looking for. Check out his website (posted earlier) for more info.

I have also trained quite a bit with the group in Auburn. They are a JKD school; not strictly FMA. They do spend a good percentage of time on FMA though. Usually they meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I believe their website (also posted earlier) has their current schedule.

It might be worth your time to contact the various instructors and explain what you are looking for. I'm sure they could tell you about themselves better than I can.

Good luck!
