Anyone ever shoot one of these things? They kick pretty hard -- even with a 2.5" field load.

I heard that grips from a Ruger Blackhawk will fit this gun, making it less hurtful to shoot. Anyone know if that is true?

Also heard that it is dangerous to fire slugs out of one, but don't know about that either. Heard that .45 LC rounds recoil less, but spin sideways coming out, which is a waste of expensive ammo.

Yes -- I know they are a P.O.S. -- but they're supposedly good for snakes and such. The one I fired had a single-action trigger pull that had to be over 10#, and the "stud trigger" is a piece of sheet metal that barely extends beyond the frame . . . but it seems fairly solid, and it does work (excepting the safety).

I'm a little scared of this gun, seeing as I've only got one hand remaining.

Any comments or observations from folks who actually have experience with one of these pieces would be appreciated.

You get what you pay for, simple enough. We did sell these at our shop and they worked but I never saw a need for one. If you see a snake and you have time to pull this gun out, cock and aim then fire you have enough time to get out of strike range and let the snake be, after all it has it's place in the world too.

Well, I thought it'd be cool to have a .410 derringer, but didn't want to spend over $300 on a Bond Arms or American Deringer product that I'd probably only shoot at the range once. This thing only cost $40, used.

I agree about the snakes . . . unless they get in your tent or cabin. Have encountered rabid racoons, skunks, and foxes as well.

This gunlike object seems like a good choice for putting in your pocket on hikes and campouts when with folks who would be upset to see a holstered sidearm.

Would never EDC something like this. It weights about a pound, has a horrendous trigger pull, and does not appear to be drop safe.
