Hi guys. Well, I've just had a terrible day and to top it off, I broke my Smith and Wesson military and police m.a.g.i.c. Liner lock folder. I was tinkering around with my new torx wrenches and loosened the pivot and then closed the knife and now the opening button (sort of like a torsion bar but more complicated) is pushed in the back/open position. I tried loosening the pivot to reset the mechanism but it won't move. Something clicked when I closed the knife, I don't know what to do. How do you break a knife?
Can anyone help?

Thanks,

BO-DACIOUS

P. S. How do you post pictures in these threads? I have a picture that would help, but I don't see an option.

How mechanically inclined are you? Do you feel comfortable talking it apart, and figuring out how it goes back together? I had a similar issue with my assisted opener, but took it apart and knew how it went back together

As I have said many times-
The screws in modern knives are for assembly, not dis assembly.

To nhyrum: I'm moderately mechanically inclined but not sure I want to risk further damage as I don't have a lot of money to buy more knives. If all else fails I'll take it to be repaired at a knife shop.
To bill deshivs: I wasn't taking it apart I just loosened the pivot a little bit and that happened. Plus I'm new to knives I didn't know it was a mistake. And I'm always fixing things without instruction this time it ended badly.

If it would cost more to pay someone to fix it than the cost of a new one, try it yourself, there's nothing to lose, and everything to gain
A good opportunity to learn on a cheap, easily replaced knife.

Where do you live I have a Kershaw laying around I'll give to you for free if you live in the US just for shipping reasons but it's yours if ya like and you can throw that one away

that button locks it in the closed position and if It was in you most likely bent or broke it. better jump on the Kershaw offer it is a better knife.

Well guess the op got his knife fixed. Orthis issue wasn't important enough to come back and check for suggestions but important enough to start a thread good luck on the knife.

Wow gonebad395 I don't have time to check my thread every day I'm busy. I just logged on I haven't even read the other messages yet. Be patient.

That is very generous of you gonebad395, tha k yiu. But I live in Canada can yiu still do it? If not that's okay. I'm humbled by your generosity.

Thanks,
