I am going to get a semi auto defensive shotgun and I was all set to order a FN SLP and then I discovered the Mossberg 930SPX and it has been getting some good press lately and the price is excelent, what do you guys think?

On nice thing about Mossberg, if there is a problem service is fast and well done. Mossberg has a good rep for using good steel and selling products that work. While I think it is hard to beat an Remington 1100 the Mossberg would be my second choice.

The 930 I tried out worked extremely well with everything I ran through it including high & low brass, magnums & standard, buckshot, birdshot, and slugs(except for the Win Featherlites that didn't have enough soup to cycle it).
Great features included at the price like the ghostring sights and extended magazine, adjustable stock spacers, and recoil pad. Only downside I saw was th lack of a front sling attachment, but you can pick up a front clamp/post & install it yourself if you want.
Only malfunctions were two times when I short-loaded the mag tube & lodged a shell between the lifter & the bolt. Easy to clear, you just cycle the action & it clears itself.
Choate is now producing accessories for the model.

No experience with the FN yet, it's on the list.
You remind me I need to call them & get one on the way. :)

I got a smoking deal (under $700) on a new FN SLP Mark I with the 22" barrel I cant wait to get it! 8+1 of 12 gauge and all in under a second to boot that is too amazing to pass up

Let me know if it cycles "target loads" or lighter loads
Just curious
My Beretta 1201FP doesn't

Also
See if you can get a pistol grip stock
Shooting semi auto shotguns from the hip with out a pistol grip is a pain..IMHO
