Not to be confused with the fine edge of the FFG, which I would like to own.
What a slippery slope I find myself on. I've been a fan of knives since I cut my finger in kindergarten with my first camp folder. It was one of those ugly contraptions that had a folding spoon and fork on the outside, and a couple of blades on the interior. In high school I fancied myself a knife collector and picked up a bunch of SAKs and Bucks, fixed and folders. As I got into fishing here on the East coast of Florida, there was no better knife than my Gerber EZ-Out. I would wade the salt flats down here with that knife submerged for hours, and it never let me down. A few spots of surface rust here and there was the worst it ever showed.
My addiction to knives cooled through the typical stages of college, career, marriage, kids, mortgage payments, etc. I've been lurking here the last few months, and while I won't say Bladeforums are the result of my renewed addiction, it has certainly contributed to my desire for better and better examples of edged tools. I've got a half a dozen Randalls on order, I picked up several Murray Carters, and I just grabbed my first handmade folder. At the same time, I've got a huge appreciation for the various Benchmade and Spyderco models out there. Unfortunately, the actual level of disposable income does not coincide with the recent level of knife purchases. And for some reason, my wife just doesn't get it.
Then I found the knifemaker for sale areas. Man, I can't wait to grab a Ray Laconico or a TA Davison.
I suppose I should clear out some of the current collection to make room for new ones. We'll see.
Anyway, thanks to all for the wealth of knowledge available in these pages!
