Finally had some time and was able to get some better pics (at least hope they're better! ) - these are the two Fogg's I have - the Shiv I have had - the Bowie is one from Blade show - Shiv has some gorgeous stag and awesome hamon - may not be able to see hamon that well.

Thanks for sharing! These two are absolutely gorgeous, and you are one fortunate knife-knut. Let's see some more pics of the shiv...

It sure was great to see you Bill.
Those knives were great to see too!

Great knives from a terrific maker. I'm a big fan of bowies in general, and yours is a terrific example, but I've always found Don's shivs to be particularly appealing - so lean, clean and elemental. Also pretty intimidating-looking for such relatively small knives. Great pair!

Cheers,

Roger

Penguinva,

Those are both gorgeous! I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet you at the show, I would have loved to handle that bowie. Don may not have had a table at the show this year, but he sure brought some beauties along with him. That bowie and the sword that was auctioned was amazing.

That bowie is nice, but that Shiv is one of the simplest neatest knife designs I have seen in a while. I love it. If you have any more pics of it I would really appreciate you posting them.

One thing I really admire in Don is his capacity to produce understated beauty - small accents of gold, nice mixes of colors, but often nothing flashy - no filework, no engraving, etc.

I have to take a couple pics of mines. I don't have a digital camera unfortunately.

Thanks you'all - was able to get some better pics done yesterday so wanted to share - hoping wouldn't bore you'all since had posted others but didn't realize that I really needed to get pics of the Shiv - will try to recticfy that soon. I also like simplicity with elegance - Don has that down probably as well as anyone - both knives as gorgeous as they are can not truely be appreciated until you handle them. When I was showing the bowie around to other makers at the show it was very interesting to see the reactions as they first saw the knife and then handled it - there are two levels - visual & visceral - the knife speaks to you in ways that are hard to describe. Don is one of the few who can transmit this through their mastery of the craft.

edited to fix fickle fingers - can't type anymore!

Don's work always struck me as imaginative and innovative, though adhering to many traditional values. I think those super clean lines on those 2 say it all. I also like the contrast between the big and small ones. Everyone else has said everything else I wanted to say... Jason.
