I didn't want to hijack the on-going thread about anti-scale approaches, so I'm posting this separately.

I'm getting ready to buy another (expensive) roll of foil wrap for AEB-L. From what I've read, the anti-scale compounds--particularly Condursal Z1100--are user-friendly and quite a bit cheaper. My question is: Do the experienced craftsman here use the compound or the foil? I'd love to hear some thoughts, pros and cons. Thank you!

I believe Stromberg Knives Stromberg Knives uses that product. I remember looking into it when he posted about it but being from CR or wherever I just decided to stick with ATP.

Much thanks for the link, and the thoughts. I'll look into it. I'd love to get away from the foil. My fingers agree.

Yeah, I've been happy with the Z1100 for stainless, I think it's less hassle than with the foil. I dip the blade in it and hang it to dry.

For my high carbon steels I use ATP-641 though.
