Who's got 'em?
I need to know more!

How sharp were the fokos, in the days of yore?
And how long were the handles? I'm guessing they should fit like a cane...and that should be...where?
I ask because I have my Dad's 50-ish year old (small) hatchet head waiting for a handle, and considered fokos-atizing it.
The top of the axe blade has been sharpened to a downturned arc and the hammer end slants down too.
So I think it'll work...if I do my part.
Maybe not as good as the pros, but it'll keep me out of trouble ;)

Here is a photo taken on a 1 inch grid.

That's pretty ornate. It looks to be about 36" in length, with a head length of approx 5 1/2".

What's up with the piece of metal folded over the cutting edge?

That's a beauty n2s!
Thanx for putting that up....I'm guessing that the metal cap is a blade cover and that the edge underneath is sharp.
Kewl

Ebbtide,

Yes, that piece is an edge guard. These things were the ice axes of their day.
