Folder Backspring

Hey Pen knife guys,

Is it OK to use different steel for the backspring?

I have some Z wear and thought of using 1070 spring steel for the spring, I dont fancy wasting Z wear on the backspring.

Can anyone forsee any likely problems?

I use an A2 spring every time I use a carbon damascus blade and haven't had an issue with it.

I use different steel for my springs, works fine. I use 1.4034~420 steel springs.
Since the spring and blade are different alloys it may even help prevent galling. (Just my idea, no evidence to back that up)

Like Sean, I also use A2 for a spring with carbon steel blades a d Damascus

Thanks guys,
I quenched my first backspring yesterday it was made from O-1, I figured that would be me best chance of survival, slow oil less distortion, blah blah blah. I will give A2 a try.
