Folder blades

I am working on a design for a new folding knife. I want it to be a daily carry and be tough enough to kill a rhino too. I've looked and a lot of folders most are similar in design when it comes to hardware, type of lock and blade. Most of the blades seem thin for a brute of a knife. I want a 3.5" blade that will last even if heavily used. What do most think is a good thickness for the blade and how about the pivot?

It seems to me that most designs from most manufacturers vary wildly in those three things rather than being similar.

This might be better answered in the makers forum.

For a folding knife I always try go get as thin as possible. My Opinel, gec, and crkt Eros are the best thickness in [my] folders, and I don't use them gently. I also use them more often due to them being so thin. They cut better.
When I compare knives that I want, I check how thin it is first, then grind, then steel.
