Folder, butterfly or gravity knife? You tell me!

well, it doesn't open by gravity, and it's not a butterfly knife, so I guess it's a folder. Although it seems like you can't open it one-handed, so it's even less "threatening" than a spyderco, theoretically. But unfortunately, in the short run it doesn't matter what we think, it's what a prosecuter/PO thinks.

Niether ; the design is based on the Chinese "panto" style knife. Also refered to as a "pantograph" knife like that carried by Bert "Yank" ;) Levy during WWII. Just a slight "modification", nothing more. If any of you forumite(s) doubt me, just take a look at the so-called "German
paratrooper knives" ( NOT gravity! )
that are currently being made by United Cutlery in both single & double edged configuration(s). There was a series of books availible at one time through Paladin Press, ironically called "How to kill" by John Minnery that in one of the volume(s) showed an original "panto"
FYI

AET ;)

I might be a little biased, but I'd call it a folder. Then again, it aint much of an issue for me since I don't buy Taylor Cutlery's garbage.

Folder/Pot-Metal/No thanks!

Sugar coating it does not help anyone...

It looks like junk, smells like junk and it feels like junk. Stamping S&W on it isn't going to make it any better.

It's not like a $5, $50 and $500 knife can't do the same things just as well as each other.

What I don't understand though, is what would be the actual use of a knife that opens like that S&W one does? Why do paratroopers need knives that open that way? Won't a normal folder or fixed-blade do?

exactly
i was looking at someone play with this knife in a shop and he couldn't answer me convincingly WHY it's a paratrooper knife
in fact, i don't see any advantages that knife has over others
i'd go for an automatic over that any day
