I’m thinking of picking up a Sypderco PM2 to use on vacations and family trips. More than enough blade length for slicing food and it folds up. One thing I’ve preferred about fixed blades is they are easier to clean, but more difficult to carry in the pocket.
PM2 owners, is it easy to clean this knife, like the locking mechanism?

The pm2 runs on washers, so there shouldn't really be any debris in the action unless it was loose.. I literally just run my knives under running water in the sink if they are really dirty. Most of the time is just a hard blow and a wipe on my shirt. For the base model your talking G10 and S30V, if it gets full of food gunk or sand just run it under some water then shake or blow it out, easy enough

I haven't disassembled a knife in years, except to change scales or add a backspacer etc. Just run soapy water through it and then rinse. Use a toothbrush to really clean it.

Depends on how picky you are about your cleanliness.

Consider something from the Spyderco Salt line. Very low maintenance knives. Love the Pacific Salt 2 in LC200N. Perfect vacation knife. Can flex into many rolls. Though I personally wouldn't do this, throw it in the dishwasher if you want.

Pm2 is super easy to take care of. Had mine for 2 years before I finally popped it open to clean.

10 minutes of cleaning and it was back to almost new.

Soap and water with a toothbrush helps around the pivot area, give it a good blast with the sink sprayer and everything should be just fine with that knife.
