ok i was gonna get grandpa a new pocket knife. since curently he has only one arm (both are atached just one is useable) i was thinking of geting grandpa a byrd knife . but the problem is he says he's prone to losing knives so i though hmm ok instead why not an opinel. the thing is the opinel isent a one handed knife.
but anyways this is what i have in consideration what do you guys think about them?

I think getting your grandfather a one-hand opener is a great idea. I think a Robin is about the right size. IMO a lockback is easier to close one-handed than a liner-lock. (I've been closing lockbacks one-handed for ~40 years.)

You might also consider a KaBar Dozier in AUS8. It is also a lock back and is about the same price as the Byrds.

Whatever you choose, don't forget that the clips can usually be removed. I know a couple of older fellas (did I say that? I resemble that remark) that use one hand openers, but remove the clip so it carries and feels more like a traditional knife.

yea the robin seems about as big as he'd like to go so the dozier is out being a 3''

the ruslock case i cant seem to find in canada and its out of the price range. and again the svords are rather large

duno ill have to talk to him again and show him the opinel. i bet he'd digg them.

Have you considered a stainless steel Robin? It has a bit of a classier feel to it than the FRN or G-10, which he might appreciate. Really a terrific little knife.
