Hi guys/gals,

Ok, to make it really simple, i am looking for a EDC folder but for lefty. I don't mind having to change the clip side, but a locking mechanism for lefty is a must.

I already own a few spydercos which you can change the side of the clip and make it a lefty (thanks spyderco), i got a mini-commander which love to open when i slide my hand in my pocket, got some nice cut along the pinky finger and side of my hand from this one.

So anyone with a recommendation?? I am sure i'm not the only lefty facing this situation. I am open to new idea and all type of folder just point me to the right direction if you can.

All comment will be highly appreciated :)

Thanks Oliver

emerson makes left cqc-7 and lefty commanders
chris reeves makes left handed sebenzas
there are custom lefties that come up on the exchange every once in a while
kershaw made left handed "tasks"
thats all i can think of off the top of my head. this list is most of the lefties i have. Us southpaws just have to adapt to the world of lefty knives.

My favorite leftie knife is any Benchmade with the Axis lock mechanism. Great knives and fully ambidextrous for opening, unlocking and clip carry. The Griptilian models are among the most affordable. The Axis mechanism reliably holds the blade closed for safety inside the pocket. Note that you will need the proper torx driver to change the clip position.

axis is very accommodating for lefties. my favorite has been the mini rukus as of late

Any knife with a symmetrical lock will be pretty much ambidexterous barring potential unhappiness with clip positioning. These include:

Kershaws with the Stud Lock (Offset, Spec/Speed Bumps, Mini Mojo).

Spydercos with the Ball Bearing Lock (D'Allara, DoDo, Poliwog, Phoenix).

Benchmades with the Axis Lock (too many to list).

I'm sure there are many others, and some I've listed are possibly not the best EDCs...;) Some are also discontinued, some not available yet...

Ray :)

Edit: some glaring oversights here, also...obviously any liner or framelock is not truly ambidexterous, especially with thumbstuds on one side only (usually switchable, though). But most (all?) lockbacks and slip joints are ambidexterous...:D

Of course you are already familiar with Spyderco so you most likely know that their mid lock knives (back lock) are fully ambidextrous. They even have some with 4 possible clip positions. And these are great knives.

Lefty myself, Benchmade axis locks are fully ambidextrous, and Zero Tolerance 0200 folder is as well.

Any Benchmade with Axis lock is ambidextrious. Also any knife with assisted-opening like Kershaw's speedsafe system or Benchmade's nitrous system is ambidextrious as well.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Chris Reeve. He makes Sebenzas and Mnandi's in left hand, Heres one of mine.

Wow! That's perty. :)

As has been said, anything with an Axis lock. But, at least think about the Victorinox One Hand Trekker with it's lefty liner lock. I really don't need yet another swiss army knife, but I'm sorely tempted just because its an inexpensive left handed knife.

I'll second what Marksman said. CRK makes a great dedicated left hand frame lock. I really like CRK for the fact that they allow us lefties to enjoy the fine knives that are usually only reserved for those right handed folks.:thumbup:

Guys, thank you very much for your assistance, i decided for the moment to settle down for my first benchmade. This one to be exact Benchmade Mini-Griptilian 557SBK Pardue.

Also, over the weekend i field stripped my emerson and i got plan to make me a liner lock for lefty also change the handle grip and put the clip for lefty.

Again thanks you everyone. :)

good choice. You'll love the axis lock. SO smooth...feels like the blade's rolling across ball bearings while opening/closing. It's addictive.

Of course, any symetrical lock is for lefties as long as the clip is movable. So Axis and Lockback models come to mind.

But most locks are easy to use for lefties, no matter, just the clip changing option is a must.

I am fine with axis too.

Nobody mentioned SOG's Arc-Lock? Big mistake! Spec Elite I is a great EDC knife, as is Vulcan... Just this morning I got the chance to play with BM Grip, my first Axis lock, so far I like Arc-Lock better - but it's only preliminary:)

Take care
Pavel
