Here's a couple of pics from the Folder-in at Tom Anderson's shop last weekend. Lots more detailed pics are posted on the Folder Forum over at Knifeforums.com for those who are interested.

Tom was generous enough to open his shop and home to anyone who wanted to participate and see a folder made from start to finish. It was an incredible learning experience for those of us who made it. I took tons of pics and tried to document the whole thing from beginning to end.

These four pics show the first steps involved...cutting the material, flattening the handle slabs, surface grinding the blade and the freshly flattened parts waiting for the drill press.

A video would have been but Tom was a bit hesitant when I suggested it. Maybe now that he's seen how great the pics came out, and if he decides to do another Folder-in, then maybe we'll get some video.

In some ways I think the still pics show as much or more than video. If you study them you can catch all kinds of subtle little things just in how his shop is organized, whether he's using a tool rest for various operations, the sizes of wheels, etc. There's all kinds of juicy stuff there and more to come as I continue posting from my 5 rolls of film.

The rest of the pics are now posted over on Knifeforums Folder Forum....Lots of great details so check 'em out!

WISH I COULD OF BEEN THERE. THANKS VERY MUCH PETER, FOR POSTING THE PICTURES.
