Does anybody know of any books, or good tutorials or anything about folder design that I can read?

I decided that I would try to put one togeather this weekend(a frame lock) and I made 3 or 4 cardboard knives, and still managed to bone it up when I made it in steel. I learned a bunch, but I'd like to get all the help I can before I start on another one, as it takes me a long time to make anything, because I mostly use files and hand tools (I have a drill press and a crappy 4x36' belt sander). I think I might try a friction folder for the next one, just to keep it as simple as possible.

Thanks

I make a micarta model from 1/8 micarta, this really helps work out the bug and the fit before you cut steel. you can glue pieces on to make changes or file more off.

I have recently started to make proto types from clear lexan. It gives you almost an xray view of now the blade, lock, and liners work with each other.

I find that it allows me to fine tune a design and see quickly how each change affects the whole knife.

Damn, that's a good use for the sheet of lexan I have sitting on the shelf! I used to make hockey helmet visors from it. You're the man, George!
