I spend most of my time in LA and was wondering what the laws were as applied to folders? Size limit? Lockblades? Thanks, Lee

Folders of any size are legal in California, so long as they are in the folded position when the police see them. EXCEPT in L.A., where the folder law is 3" or less, so a Delica is cool, an Endura is not. Fixed blades are not allowed. I bought a Delica just for my trips to Los Angeles.

Close, but no cigar!

The three inch rule for the city of Los Angeles, as well as Glendale, Burbank, and maybe some other places, applies to open carry.

Here's the text of the ordinance: http://www.chaicutlery.com/citylaw.html

So carry your Endura, et al., they way you normally would, with most of it inside your pocket.

I've been walking around Los Angeles, Glendale, and Burbank for years with pocket clips showing, and haven't been troubled by law enforcement over it. Of course, I don't go out of my way to trouble law enforcement either.

When The Wife was pulled over a few years ago for a nonconforming lane change, and there was a 5" fixed blade knife in the glove compartment between her and the registration papers, she just said "There's a knife here - don't worry," and put it on the floor of the car, and the cop didn't say anything about it.

Your mileage may vary.

So I can carry any sized folder, so long as it is concealed?! Sweet!
