For you poor souls waiting on your Busse folders I've found the Perfect one to hold you off. It's the Spyderco Manix (Lg. and small pictured) and to me it's the Shiz Nizzle of folders! I love everything about these folders and believe me I've owned/handled many, everything from ergonomics, fit and finish, and overall stoutness with their steel liners! Needless to say I'll be attemting to acquire a few more just to set aside for a rainy day. THEY ROCK!

Bravado, I'm a huge Spydie fan, and the Manix is my next folder, I've handled one before, and I've seen several reviews where it out performed Zero Tolerance and Chris Reeve Sebbies... solid workmanship, and awsome blade, razor from the box...

Thanks for the pix...

i have one that i got in trade. definitely a nice one, put together very well and tank strong.

just cant get used to the lockback.

I have a large one...it's OK I guess. Edge is a bit too thin for my taste. Actually, a lot too thin.

I like my Lochsa better. A lot better. Miles and mountains better.

But if we're talking the sub-$200 price range I'd go with a ZT0200 or an Emerson.

I hate the Emerson edges and think the ZT200 isn't as stout as the Manix plus the Lg. Manix was literally made for my Lg. hand size and overall they're less expensive!

Yessir, the manix is an awesome knife. It was actually the first knife I ever bought (yeah I'm young :D ) and I loved it while I had it. Perfect size and ergonomics, and the blade shape was very useful--none of that goofy recurve stuff.

However, I am not too sentimental and needed money and never used it, so I sold it. Easy come easy go :D

It is hard to find a more stout production folder than the Manix! I like mine a lot but carry depends on what I'm wearing that day. It is a bit big for the clothes I wear to the office unless I go IWB. The rat trap seemed nice - I missed out. My most commonly carried folder is more rat-trap-like than my manix - the Kershaw Cyclone. My manix has been on long term loan to a friend for a few months. Getting together to get it back will be an excuse for bbq & beer!! ;)

The ZT0200 fits my large hand better than the Manix does. It fills it out better because it's got thicker slabs. My ZT0200 locks up rock solid but my Manix has a little play in the blade when locked. In addition I dinged a serious chip out of the blade of my Manix on a little staple. A STAPLE. That's just unacceptable...especially when I see guys like VTW hammering their Busse edges into nails with little or no damage.

BTW what's wrong with Emerson edges?

The QC is so and so. I have had like 10 Commanders (bought and sold) and only 2 were perfectly executed. I think Spyderco has better QC. The chipping issue is getting common with S30V lately but I do appreciate the thin edge on the Spydercos. I wonder what a good INFI folder be like.

I like the spydie paramilitary. It's sorta ugly but sharp and strong and I love the compression lock. I can open and close it one handed more easily than any folder or lock I have sampled. And its built for the Sharpmaker. Razor edge in about a second. Also it is always near the top of Cliff Stamp's lists of best cutters or sharpest edges.

Hey Bravado, I am pretty sure you've had an Airkat Tripwire. What about one of the newer TORK NVTRs, and if you have, how do they compare to the Manix? Dwaynes folders (post-tripwire) look like what I would expect from Jerry. I've broken far too many Spydercos, but maybe the Manix is all that.

I've handles the Torks but never owned one, they're along the same line as the Trips the latter I can't talk about.:( The Manix is by far the stoutest Spyderco I've ever owned/handled but still no where close to an Airkat or even a Strider AR but the Manix has the Ergo's over both of them so it's a trade off for me.

...plus I'm not a big fan of the liner lock on the Rat Trap.

This is my only real qualm with my Rat Trap too. And I agree, the Manix is a fantastic knife. Have you had a chance to try a Chinook? That's the other Spydie I really love.
