Hey guys I am looking for a new tactical folder and need some help. I have been looking at knives from brands like Blackhawk blades, M.O.D., ZT knives, etc. I already have both Crucible folders from blackhawk but the handle is too large for my hand and makes it slightly difficult to open. Specifically I have been looking at the Be-Wharned, and Hornet models but have not been able to find solid reviews. Thanks alot

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

What have you got now, any Emersons? They are better sized for the average hand than some of the monster tacticals. I like the ZT 0200 but it's on the large size for someone with smaller hands than mine.

If you can still get a Kershaw G-1 Tyrade, that's another big solid folder.

All good suggestions so far.. does weight matter to you? That will help narrow down as the ones listed already go from light to moderatly heavy.

Light - Military/Para

Mid - Al Mar SERE2K
Mid - Emerson (your flavor)

Heavy - Kershaw Tyrade G10
Heavy - ZT 200 or ZT 300
Heavy - Benchmade Skirmish

For Size/Strength/Weight.. I don't think you can beat an Emerson (opinion only). I just love them.

Thanks guys. I had an Emerson cqc-7 but I didn't really like it. The wave wasn't as effective as I had expected, and the knife had blade play. I have $20 knives that have no play at all. I know Al Mar's are nice but a bit too pricey for me. I also don't particularly like Spyderco knives, I am not a fan of thumb hole openers. But, if you guys insist that the thumb hole can be opened quickly and effectively I may change my mind

the hornets are a good small tactical knife. i have one of the old models and it's a very solid knife. i never handled the newer models.:) only bad thing for me is that it's tip-down carry.

The ZT0400 should fit your needs nicely, its very fast, strong, and pointy :)

I'm looking to spend up to about $125, but I would be willing to go up a bit. The new Hornets have a 4-way clip system and are much less expensive then the original. I am highly considering getting one. Also, the ZT0400 looks great but how heavy is it?

Get yourself a nice Delica, Endura, or Military. Spyderco makes fantastic knives, I am sure that there is one that will tickle your fancy.

The speed that you can deploy a knife really depends on you and not the knife. The spydie hole IMO is one of the best opening systems especially if your ever wearing gloves.

The 0400 is more slim and lightweight than the other ZTs I've used (0200, 0500, 650st). It still feels solid, it's just not as heavy. The blade on the other hand, is more stout than most knives. The tanto tip looks very strong.

Spyderco Military, Pacific Salt, Manix2, or wait a few months and get a new flat-ground FRN Endura.

I have been looking around and taking all of your suggestions. I've narrowed it down to Spyderco manix2, native, endura, Emerson CQC-7, or blackhawk hornet 2
