This may have been done before, but I didn't find it. I'm thinking about getting another knife, I need one about as much as the rest of you guys, but that's part of collecting/using. I'd like something under $150, a folder with a frame/liner lock. Spyderco compression lock might also be acceptable, if it can be closed as easily as a liner/frame lock. Please don't recommend a different mechanism, I already have them and for my needs the liner/frame lock is ideal. I'd like the blade to be between 3" and 3 5/8" long, good steel, but I am not a steel snob. As long as it is around 56-57 Rc or higher, that's fine. Preferably stainless but not necessary. A handle that stays put in your hand (like textured G10), preferably with some sort of a small built in guard to keep from slipping onto the blade, like the BM 940 series. I would also like a decent blade detent, so it doesn't open to easily and a manual action, not an assisted opener. I almost forgot to mention, a good quality F & F and materials, BM/Spyderco/Kershaw, etc. Thanks for your thoughts.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was a Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Excellent knife.

Kershaw Speedform II, various Zero Tolerance knives, Spyderco Paramilitary II (the compression lock is easier to close, as your fingers are out of the way of the blade when closing.)

Honestly, I think the Speedform II is the best bang for the buck given your specifications. Elmax steel is excellent, it has an index finger groove and textured G-10, and it coes in at $75 or under. As long as you dont mind that the clip is set up for righties only, I think its a great knife for your purposes.

Para 2 sound perfect for your needs.
Or Spyderco Gayle Bradley, sage 1 or 2, or ZT0200.

If tip-down carry is not an issue, the OP can consider an Al Mar Shrike (flat-ground VG-10) with its ergonomic curved G10 handle weighing around 4.2 ounces.
Should be under 150 USD.
I have used it for the past 20 months and the overall performance is pretty good for my EDC and household needs.

I agree with the Spyderco Sage 1, Sage 2, Military, Gayle Bradley and Para 2.

I'd like to add the Chokwe as well. It is one hell of a slicer, and has one of the nicest frame locks I've used, buttery smooth.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I may either go with the Para-Military (I don't have a compression lock yet) or the Chowke. The Chowke has more blade fro the same handle, the Para seems to have a more practical blade shape. We'll see...
