As the title says, I need a knife under 3 inches (no smaller than 2 inches) and under $100. Assisted-open is a plus, and I don't want a Swiss army knife. Since the search function isn't enabled, I was wondering if you guys could give me some suggestions :D

Benchmade Mini griptillian, Spyderco. delica.

Both are awesome knives, just under 3" and come in many variations!

And depending on which one you get they can run from 50-100.

If you have more money to spend I would get a mini sebenza.

IMO and alot of others on this forum the Sebenza is the ultimate production knife.

AO: Kershaw Leek

Non-AO: Spyderco Delica or Benchmade Mini Griptilian (I'd personally rather get one of these two).

You will receive plenty of perfectly ok suggestions for decent production knives.
I will suggest a few "different" knives, if you like:

This one is in your budget. I have it with polished clear horn handle. It is a nicely designed handmade knife, good Sandvik steel, a backlock and a few special details. The 3.15" blade is a wee bit above your 3" limit, but you might be interested. I am happy with mine, it's a very practical compact knife that's well put together.

And this one must be pretty rare in the states. I think it looks beautiful and very special. The brass ring is the lock (Opinel-style). Handmade, Sandvik, 3" blade, unique looks. A few days ago I posted my (favourable!) impressions and pics of a slightly larger model.

I took the Eka Masur 88 on a recent holiday. It impressed me by its good looks, sturdy operation and light weight. The handle is made of compressed birch and it fits the hand really well (and it's warm to the touch) without risk of slipping your fingers on the blade. A truly interesting scandinavian folder, offered at a good price. In this video you see it being sharpened.

This one is a bit above your budget. It costs 100 ... euro ... But, just look at it. Such a wonderful, elegant design. I recently received the one with amourette handle and it's really "chic".

Another really nice choice can be had just within your budget if you shop around: a Mcusta with 2.75" "layered" damascus blade, these are exquisite compact knives, extremely well made (I have a different model that's a bit more expensive)!

Here is one interesting knife that I haven't tried (but eventually I will succumb to the temptation) is a classic Italian Zouava folder. Here (middle of page) is a 3" blade version with horn handle well within your price range and it's made by Maserin, a premier Italian producer.

Finally, there are small Laguioles in the blade range that you're looking for, and they should be within your budget if you pick a non-exotic model. I love Laguioles, it's a kind of EDC knife that I will never get tired of. And I indeed recommend you to wait until you need a knife with a 4" blade and then consider them (focusing on the good brands!), these 4-4.5" models are supremely versatile and offer timeless beauty.

What do you think of these suggestions?

Dagon

ps to search you can always go to google and type something like the following in the search box:

Nontron site:www.bladeforums.com

(the "site:" command limits the google search to this forum. It works pretty well.)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

And to Dagon, those knives are really nice but they're either above or exactly 3 inches (which I don't want due to very strict company policies) or over my budget. However, the Mcusta knife is very nice and fits my budget. I might have to go with the Mcusta :). The website you gave me for the Mcusta (link) also sells Leeks in damascus, which I really like as well.

Now I really got to decide between a damascus Leek or a Mcusta damascus knife. Thanks for all the help guys ;)

I'll add another plus to the mini-grip. It comes in at 2.9 inches, if I recall. If you want to hit 2.5", Byrd Robin and Fallkniven U2 are great.

Get the minigrip, the G-10 s30v leek, or the mcusta. None of these knives will dissapoint you. Oh and the delica is OK too.

It's threads like this that end up costing me money.... Oh, that Fallkniven TK4 is a sweet knife. That little Mcusta also is an appealing knife. I think the Spyderco Native comes in just under three inches, too, and that's become one of my constant companions. For beauty, I like small knives with stag grips and elegant Damascus blades. But I'm going to have to get one of those TK4s.

Damn, I wrongly assumed that 3" was still acceptable. Anyway, of my selections the Eka Masur 88 has a 2 3/4" blade, and at $49 it's largely within your budget. It's really good, and it looks pleasingly different from production knives with synthetic handles. Check it out.
Also, here is a slightly smaller version of the Nontron, with a 2.75" blade, and it costs only $37.95. A good price considering that it's a handcrafted artisanal product.
You indicated a possible preference for the Mcusta. These are indeed very well made knives. The one I have has the same blade and it's wickedly sharp, it holds its edge very well, and it opens remarkably smoothly. Mcusta is definitely one of the better knife producers.
