I'm still waiting for the tri-ad lock doubters to prove me wrong that the spartan is as strong as a fixed-blade of comparable weight.

I actually believe that the tri-ad is one of the strongest in the market now. But on the other hand it's not us who have to do the proving. It's you who is making a statement, you do the proving.

If you search on my previous posts you will find that I was one of those knuckle draggers who want hard use folders. I like hard use folders in the same way as I want to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.

I was actually one of those who defended a series of hard use and abuse test videos that made the rounds of the forums some time ago. A lot of people felt that such "hard use" was not suitable for folders but I wanted the envelope for folder strength to be pushed.

But here's the thing, a lock may be the strongest lock in the planet but one whole piece of metal will always be stronger than two pieces fastened together by a screw.

Yeah but the thing is that I'm not doubting any knife that I don't have experience with. Some of the posters here spend hundreds of dollars on some knives. I'm sure they can fork over 50$ and get a spartan and test it.The person doesn't even need to post pics or videos I just want them to be honest.I'm betting that they will be impressed and will want to tell about it.

Who ever said that I was not impressed with a tri-ad? You just don't seem to understand that what I'm saying is, at the present state of technology, no folder is as strong as a fixed blade of approximately the same dimensions.

No I understand the anatomy of the configurations and the weaknesses. What I'm saying though is that I think if you were to test it against a fixed blade of the same weight it wouldn't break in the same tasks you would use Fixed blade for.

Now that would depend upon the tasks, wouldn't it?

But you didn't say that, what you said was "as strong as a fixed blade of the comparable weight". ;)

A fixed blade is not always stronger than a folder. With no design parameters other than one folds and the other doesn't, it doesn't take much imagination to think of a folder that is stronger than a fixed blade.

I agree, but assuming they are of the same dimensions and materials, I would say that one piece of metal is stronger than 2 pieces bolted together, especially in lateral strength.

Well, that's faith. Belief without proof or belief that goes against common sense. What about the pre-broken thing? But YMMV....

It's not just a belief it's from tests I've done and tests I've seen done. Why do you always seem to pop up to argue with me in almost every thread ?

Any comparison tests? With a fixed blade against a folder? Test to destruction? Where you've definitely proven that they both break at the same load? Or just one knife tests?

Maybe because this is a forum and things are discussed here. :p

I just happen to see an opinion presented as fact, and so I present my views. Only later do I realize that it's you. :p

Naw I just I think you might have feelings for me .As far as the comparison tests..I've seen destruction tests by Noss on fixed blades that have broken with less than I put my spartan through. Did I personally put a fixed blade of equal size up against the spartan in the tests? No because I don't want to ruin The closest one in weight is the oss and I know it would break. It's my favorite knife in my collection. Look, I can't convince you and that's cool..all I'm saying is that if someone doubts that it's as strong as a fixed blade of the same weight and your ok with breaking them..put them too the test.

Also have you any proof or have done any testing to suggest that I'm wrong? Have you ever tested a large tri-ad lock folder like the spartan in really abusive tests? You just seem to really like to argue more than anything.

There you go again. You get all butthurt when your opinions that you present as fact, are questioned. It's just simple physics and materials science and since you are the one making statements contrary to common sense, the burden of proof is on you. It ain't so just because you say so.

You can say "I believe the earth is flat" and nobody can argue with that. However, if you go out and say "the earth is flat", you have to prove that and additionally get thicker skin so when people present conflicting opinion, you don't resort to personal attacks.

I'm not butthurt dude I'm just clowning on you.

18 out of 42 posts, the two of you playing footsie with each other. Talk it out here, do not disrupt the other thread anymore. And thank me for not hitting you both for trolling.

If it's only 50 bucks, why don't you just buy the thing and prove it to yourself? Just 'cause it's 50 bucks doesn't mean people that spend hundreds on knives want to spend that just to run a test for you.

50 bucks is 50 bucks. It's not exactly an amount people want to toss around for amusement.
