I'm still waiting for the tri-ad lock doubters to prove me wrong that the spartan is as strong as a fixed-blade of comparable weight.
I'm still waiting for the tri-ad lock doubters to prove me wrong that the spartan is as strong as a fixed-blade of comparable weight.
I actually believe that the tri-ad is one of the strongest in the market now. But on the other hand it's not us who have to do the proving. It's you who is making a statement, you do the proving.
If you search on my previous posts you will find that I was one of those knuckle draggers who want hard use folders. I like hard use folders in the same way as I want to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
I was actually one of those who defended a series of hard use and abuse test videos that made the rounds of the forums some time ago. A lot of people felt that such "hard use" was not suitable for folders but I wanted the envelope for folder strength to be pushed.
But here's the thing, a lock may be the strongest lock in the planet but one whole piece of metal will always be stronger than two pieces fastened together by a screw.
Yeah but the thing is that I'm not doubting any knife that I don't have experience with. Some of the posters here spend hundreds of dollars on some knives. I'm sure they can fork over 50$ and get a spartan and test it.The person doesn't even need to post pics or videos I just want them to be honest.I'm betting that they will be impressed and will want to tell about it.
Who ever said that I was not impressed with a tri-ad? You just don't seem to understand that what I'm saying is, at the present state of technology, no folder is as strong as a fixed blade of approximately the same dimensions.
No I understand the anatomy of the configurations and the weaknesses. What I'm saying though is that I think if you were to test it against a fixed blade of the same weight it wouldn't break in the same tasks you would use Fixed blade for.
Now that would depend upon the tasks, wouldn't it?
But you didn't say that, what you said was "as strong as a fixed blade of the comparable weight".![]()
I still stand behind that.
A fixed blade is not always stronger than a folder. With no design parameters other than one folds and the other doesn't, it doesn't take much imagination to think of a folder that is stronger than a fixed blade.
Well, that's faith. Belief without proof or belief that goes against common sense. What about the pre-broken thing? But YMMV....
It's not just a belief it's from tests I've done and tests I've seen done.
Why do you always seem to pop up to argue with me in almost every thread ?![]()
Naw I just I think you might have feelings for me .As far as the comparison tests..I've seen destruction tests by Noss on fixed blades that have broken with less than I put my spartan through. Did I personally put a fixed blade of equal size up against the spartan in the tests? No because I don't want to ruin The closest one in weight is the oss and I know it would break. It's my favorite knife in my collection. Look, I can't convince you and that's cool..all I'm saying is that if someone doubts that it's as strong as a fixed blade of the same weight and your ok with breaking them..put them too the test.Maybe because this is a forum and things are discussed here.![]()
Naw I just I think you might have feelings for me .
There you go again. You get all butthurt when your opinions are questioned. It's just simple physics and materials science and since you are the one making statements contrary to common sense, the burden of proof is on you.
You can say "I believe the earth is flat" and nobody can argue with that. However, if you go out and say "the earth is flat", you have to prove that and additionally get thicker skin so when people present conflicting opinion, you don't resort to personal attacks.
I'm not butthurt dude I'm just clowning on you.
Probably because you no longer have valid points.![]()
