I prefer phospher-bronze washers. These are self lubricating, but I still use mil-tec on them. You can these at www.knifekits.com and I usually change out the standard teflon to the p-b's when I get a new knife. Most recently I switched the teflon washers in my Ontario Retribution 1 to phospher-bronze.

Teflon is some tough stuff in it's own right, and it is extremely slick, but I keep a very tight pivot and that sometimes causes teflon to deform and even tear. P-b washers do not have that problem, and once they are broken in, they become very slick.

Nylatron washers may be the best of both worlds, with good opening off the bat, and firmer/harder than teflon.
