What EDC type folder would you say is the equivalent of the Becker Knife and Tool COMBAT/UTILITY 7 as far as value and workmanship(best bang for the buck)?

TIA :)

Dill

I hope you don't mean a folding BK7!

If you are looking for bang-for-the-buck factor, I'd go Spyderco...

My personal preference in knives is Benchmade, but most of them cost four times as much as a Spyderco!

you cant really beat CRKT for the money either, the M-18 and M-16 are both very good knives at a value price. The Kershaw Vapor is also a really good knife and for $20 you cant go wrong. Its got a solid frame lock too!

I have a C10PBK Endura that I like, as well as a Benchmade 551, my current EDC is an CRKT CRAWFORD/KASPER FOLDER 6783, am just looking for opinions on other quality folders that don't cost too much :) :) :).

Thanks,

Dill

Not always ;)
BENCHMADE Griptilian – 551 or 550 - are just some bucks more expensive than SPYDERCO lightweights (say Delica), much stronger due to steel frame supported handles and could fit heavier cutting tasks.

Quite naturally they are not as easy to carry as Delica, the handles are rather onto thick side but not any tragically. I carry my 551 (pictured) for more than half year and I’m very satisfied with its performance.

Maybe it is not the world’s prettiest knife but it is great performer and very cost efficient. BTW, still not so expensive to regret putting it into real life use.

I'm with Sergiusz. I've had a 551 for about 9 months. It's one tough bugger.

I've used it quite heavily. I've even used it with a billet to split hardwood wedges and shims... I was helping a friend re-do some stuff in his store and did not bring my tools, since he supposedly had what we needed.

VERY good "bang for the buck."

I think it is really hard to beat the Camillus Cuda MAXX for the value vs. the dollar. Anodized TITANIUM handles, D2 steel blade, great design from a proven maker. All this for under $150.00. The real thing will set you back $600.00 or more and having had both, the Camillus version is as good a copy of a knife as I've ever seen!:D  :)

My first reaction was that artsig1 had gone off on a pretty wide tangent, but the more I think about it the more I agree with him. :) The Camillus CUDA Maxx may not be "equivalent" to the BK&T Combat/Utility 7 in philosophy. Instead it is a folder that really can do what the CU7 does. The Maxx is a tough, versatile, practical, and reliable knife.

My first choice for the folder equivalent to the CU7 would be the Spyderco Endura. It has the same tough character, no-nonsense design, and reasonable price that distinguishes the CU7.

Hey Bob, don't ever be surprised at where I go with a thread, as I sometimes go places I didn't even realize was a place!!:)

Even my wife tells me I don't surprise her anymore!:D I think thats a good thing. ;)

If you mean a TOUGH folder, I'd go with either the SOG Tomcat or the Spyderco Chinook. Otherwise, there are the Spyderco SS Delica, Endura, or Police models, which are ALL very good values.

For the best bang for the buck it is difficult to go wrong with Spyderco knives. With that said, I really think the Benchmade Grip. is a much better value than even Spydercos. :) The knives from CRKT are also some of the best values out there.

Good job Serg.(warranty violator!) :D
