Most folders don't come w/ a sheath.

So do you just drop it in a pocket?

Or immediatly find a sheath for it? And have a sheath for each knife?

If you have a sheath, do you rotate your EDC into one sheath (cordura)?

Or do you have a custom made sheath?

Except for a LM Wave, I don't carry anything in a sheath. Don't like alot of stuff on a belt.
My wife carries her BM or Pirhanna in a horizontal sheath.

Usually pocket with no sheath.

Some of my Cases came with little cloth sacks, but I don't always use them.

For SAKs, no sheath.

For folders with clips, I clip them on in the pocket.

I just drop my folders into my pocket without using a pocket clip.

I remove pocket clips from all of my knives!

are there any good custom sheath makers who will make a leather sheath for you without sending the knife in? I would send a deposit, of course.

If you want a molded fitted sheath , you would need to send it in.

Althought some of the sheathmakers keep some of the popular folders on hand for fit up , so you need to check with them to be sure.

If you dont want to send it in , check AG Russel site , they have some nice flap sheaths for $25.

the only knife i would ever consider carrying in a sheath vs a pocket is a strider AR/GB, other than that if i wanna deal with a sheath i'll just pack a fixed blade myself.

why anyone would carry say a emerson CQC12 in a sheath vs a pocket puzzles me.

why do it??????

I usually carry my fancy folders in a sheath, real workhorses just go in the pocket.
Most sheaths I make myself, and out of fancy leather if I can find it. Here is a pic of 3 home made sheaths and the respective knives. The black sheath with bead is elephant leather, the brown sheath is ostrich, both bought on a recent trip to Thailand. The bead on the sheath helps me orient the sheath in my hand, and provides a grip for thumb and middle finger when pushing the knife home with the index finger. The beads are also from Thailand. The plain black sheath is cow.

depends on what you carry in your pocket along with the knife... change can become stuck in between the blade and liners , also pocket lint can become a pain in the arse as well.

Besides I found many knives have a less than ideal pocket clip , almost like some were an afterthought.

Good news for those that prefer a sheath , there are lots of guys who make em :)

i carry my leatherman and sometimes my saks in sheath, but most of the time they are clipped to a carabeaner with a leather string then clipped to my beltloop and dropped in the pocket; everything else i just put in my pocet.

That AG Russell idea was a good one, I think I found a nice lil pocket sheath for my Cadet SAK.
