There is good cause to believe that the history of tactical folders is significantly incomplete, and essentially ignores the role played by Spyderco and Sal Glesser.

Sal has posted threads in both the Spyderco forum here: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum52/HTML/001854.html

and at Spyderco's own forum: http://www.spyderco.com/forum/topic.asp?topic_id=1478&forum_id=7&Topic_Title=Blade+Magazine+%2D+Tactical+folders%3F&forum_title=General+Information+Forum&M=False&S=True

They are essentially the same, so there's no great need to review them both. Nonetheless, I suggest that anyone interested in the history of the knives that are the focus of obsession for so many here, should give Sal a hearing. If one tends to agree with the notion that the "extra" magazine leaves some significant gaps, then perhaps a letter to the editor of Blade might be in order. I have urged Sal to send his post to Blade as a letter to editor itself.

Just to give you an idea of what Sal has to say, it is very interesting to me that the "father" of tactical folders carried a Spyderco tactical folder for 5 years before inventing the concept/name.
